Data Analyst Intern

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority is seeking a Data and Research Analyst Intern to support the Research and Strategy team. The intern will assist with data analysis, research projects, and the development of materials that inform the organization's strategic goals, focusing on affordable housing lending and finance.

Responsibilities

Assisting with research requests across departments by gathering, integrating, and organizing data from multiple sources
Helping document and present metrics through reports, statistical charts, and data visualizations using internal and external data
Contributing to the creation of visual communications and presentation materials that highlight CHFA’s research findings
Assisting in the production of research reports, briefs, and other materials for internal and external use
Supporting cross‑departmental inquiries related to CHFA business activities and the Colorado economy
Helping design surveys, compile data, analyze responses, and contribute to executive summaries
Participating in research related to CHFA’s strategic initiatives, including innovation‑related work
Collaborating with the Business Intelligence team on various research studies and data projects
Assisting with qualitative research efforts, including interviews, online research, focus groups, and synthesis of findings
Performing other duties and special projects as assigned

Required

Current enrollment in or recent completion of a degree program in Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Public Policy, Data Analytics, or a related field
Proficiency in Excel and basic Microsoft Office applications required
Strong critical-thinking skills and high attention to detail
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Effective problem-solving skills, both independently and collaboratively
Basic knowledge of research methods and data analysis concepts
Ability to organize and interpret technical or statistical information
Motivation, initiative, and the ability to manage deadlines
Flexibility and willingness to take on new tasks or learn new tools
Ability to continuously improve and develop knowledge and skills, while adapting quickly to changing circumstances and processes

Preferred

Coursework or experience with data analysis, research methods, or statistical tools preferred
Experience or familiarity with Tableau, statistical software, or GIS tools is a plus
Interest or prior exposure to affordable housing, public policy, or economic research is beneficial
