Responsibilities

Performs a variety of engineering duties of substantial difficulty in the traffic planning, traffic design, traffic safety, traffic operations, and traffic analysis areas of specialization
Apply engineering principles and practices with a minimum of technical supervision
Conducts and supervises the necessary engineering calculations and preparation of plans, specifications, estimates, studies, and reports associated with traffic planning, design, operations, safety, and analysis
Assumes primary responsibility over multiple projects
Plans and directs the activities of professional and support staff

Required

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required
A valid Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Illinois is required
Six (6) years' work experience in design, construction, or engineering studies related to transportation infrastructure is required
Within these minimum six (6) years' experience, a minimum of three (3) years of work experience in at least three (3) of the following five (5) categories is required: (A) Preparation and/or review of traffic capacity analysis (B) Preparation and/or review of signing and pavement marking plans (C) Preparation and/or review of traffic safety studies (D) Preparation and/or review of maintenance of traffic plans (E) Preparation and/or review of traffic impact studies
Possession of a valid driver's license is required

Preferred

A valid Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification is preferred
