Project Control & Scheduling Lead

Forbes Bros. Group of Companies is seeking a Project Controls/Scheduling Lead responsible for hands-on execution and leadership of all project controls activities for a large-scale transmission construction project. The role involves developing, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting project schedule, cost, progress, and performance data while ensuring project controls standards are implemented at the project level.

Responsibilities

Directly develop, maintain, and update project schedules, cost models, progress tracking tools, and performance reports
Perform detailed schedule logic updates, progress status, forecasting, variance analysis, and recovery planning
Independently prepare project controls reports, dashboards, and management summaries
Utilize inputs from Project Coordinators, field teams, and other disciplines while retaining accountability for final project controls outputs
Maintain the integrated project schedule, including baseline management, updates, and look-ahead planning
Track installed quantities, productivity, and earned value to support accurate cost and schedule forecasting
Monitor cost performance, change impacts, and forecast trends in coordination with the Project Manager
Identify schedule and cost variances, risks, and opportunities, and recommend mitigation or recovery actions
Prepare and issue weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc internal and external project controls reports
Develop and maintain project dashboards and performance metrics aligned with project and corporate requirements
Conduct in-depth analysis of schedule, cost, and performance data to support proactive decision-making
Implement and maintain approved project controls systems, coding structures, and procedures on the project
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of all project controls data across systems and reports
Provide guidance to project teams on project controls processes, data requirements, and reporting standards
Support continuous improvement of project-level controls workflows and reporting efficiency
Direct and coordinate project controls support activities, defining required inputs, formats, and timelines
Review and validate inputs provided by Project Coordinators, including quantities, progress updates, and documentation, prior to incorporation into project controls systems
Provide ongoing guidance and feedback to Project Coordinators to ensure data accuracy and consistency
Coordinate closely with Construction, Materials, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure field execution is accurately reflected in project controls

Required

Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Finance, or a related discipline
7-10 years of experience in project controls, scheduling, cost control, or performance management roles within the construction industry
Demonstrated experience supporting large, complex construction projects, preferably in power transmission or other linear infrastructure
Strong understanding of project controls principles, including schedule control, cost management, progress measurement, and forecasting
Advanced computer proficiency is mandatory, including strong working knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Excel, and project reporting tools
Experience with project controls and ERP systems such as Power BI, SAP, Ecosys, Viewpoint, or equivalent platforms
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate insights clearly to project leadership
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interface effectively with field teams, Project Coordinators, and management
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States or able to obtain and maintain U.S. work authorization
Successfully complete pre-employment and site-specific drug and alcohol testing
Maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Complete background screening and criminal record checks as required
This is a site-based role operating on a rotational schedule. The anticipated rotation is three (3) weeks on / one (1) week off, working six (6) days on and one (1) day off (Sundays), with ten (10) hour workdays. Rotation and schedule are subject to project needs and construction sequencing, and flexibility to adjust during critical phases is required
