Convective is an early stage startup focused on innovative methods of precipitation enhancement and weather modification. They are seeking a Head of Hardware Engineering to lead the development of a core thermal emitter system, applying aerospace principles to industrial hardware development.

Responsibilities
System Architecture: Responsible for the requirements and architecture of thermal emitter systems (combustion chambers, injectors, fluid feed systems, and thermal protection) optimized for ground-based operation
Hardware Development: Partner with EPC firms to accelerate hardware prototyping and production scaling
Outcome Ownership: Own large business outcomes, including the development schedule, budget, and qualification timeline for thermal emitter production
Team Building: Mentor and manage a small team of propulsion, mechanical, and fluids engineers
Qualification
Required
MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
High proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks, NX) and PLM systems
Strong background in Design for Manufacture (DFM), specifically for mass-produced hardware involving precision fluids, valves, or combustion devices
Experience managing EPC firms or external partners for prototyping and production scaling
Deep understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and combustion stability
3+ years in a management position, guiding hardware development and developing engineering talent
Startup experience: Proven ability to move fast, wear multiple hats, and solve complex problems with limited resources
