Hanford Mission Integration Solutions is a team that offers innovative solutions through mission integration for the U.S. Department of Energy. They are seeking an Undergrad Intern to support the Communications and Public Relations team, where the intern will draft and edit communication products, track metrics, and create content for various platforms.

Responsibilities
Draft, edit and proofread articles, newsletters, bulletins, social media posts, scripts and other products
Assist in tracking communications metrics (e.g., engagement scores, readership, reach)
Work closely with communications staff, leadership and technical experts to ensure messaging is accurate and aligned with site objectives
Support production of communication materials for different departments and audiences
Create visual and written content for websites, social media platforms, internal communications, and community outreach
Support maintenance, scheduling, and monitoring of social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)
Specific project scope will be identified in interviews
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, Media Studies, or a closely related field
Must have one college term completed at an accredited college or university, must be enrolled as a full-time student, and live within a commutable distance from the Richland work location
Must have and maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or above
Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during breaks
Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge
Preferred
Completion of coursework in public relations, journalism, digital communications, media writing, marketing, or mass communications
Experience writing, editing, or curating content for newsletters, social media, or web platforms
Familiarity with communications tools or platforms (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, WordPress, Hootsuite), SharePoint and AP Style Guide
Understanding of communications planning, messaging, and stakeholder engagement practices
Prior internship, co-op, or volunteer experience in communications, PR, media production, or event management
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team to meet deadlines
Experience developing or supporting campaigns on social media (Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) or in public/media relations settings
Comfort with editorial review, and ability to represent company interests professionally to internal and external audiences
Interest in science, environmental management, or government/contractor communications
