Responsibilities

Supporting maintenance section activities involving the structures maintenance units, project maintenance unit, and maintenance support unit activities at 8 locks, 7 dams, and the navigational channel
Preparing complex plans, design sketches, schedules, specifications, and cost estimates for proposed repair projects
Coordinating engineering efforts for locks, dams, navigational channel and floating plant with other districts, offices, and design centers
Conducting field inspections to determine the condition of equipment such as lock gates, valves, sills, tainter gates, service bridge structures, bulkheads, cranes and hydraulic systems
Reviewing reports and recommendations with respect to the extent of repairs necessary at various installations
Drafting reports and correspondence concerning maintenance and repair activities as necessary to document all aspects of each assigned project

Required

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service, which includes: 1) Performing engineering planning, design, construction, operation, and/or maintenance on a variety of civil works projects; 2) Providing technical advice and recommendations; 3) Assisting in planning and execution of assigned maintenance and repair projects
A bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
