Tooling Design & Build Machinist (Die Repair)
The Manufacturers' Association is seeking a skilled Tooling Design & Build Machinist to fabricate and repair metalworking dies and tools. The role involves interpreting blueprints, planning builds, machining, and verifying precision in tooling processes.

Responsibilities
Analyze specifications from blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions; determine materials, tooling, and machines
Compute dimensions; plan layouts; establish assembly methods and operation sequences
Measure, mark, and scribe metal before machining
Set up and run lathes, milling machines, and grinders; validate parts against specifications
Lift parts manually or with a hoist; secure using vises, V-blocks, and angle plates
Check dimensions, alignments, and clearances with dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges, and micrometers
Heat-treat tools or parts as required
When applicable, connect wiring and hydraulic lines to install electrical/hydraulic components
Review existing dies/tools/fixtures and recommend construction/function modifications
Turn general descriptions into specifications for specialty tools; sketch or draw product designs
Coordinate tasks and instructions with supervisors and coworkers
Inspect and measure parts; calibrate and maintain personal tools
Use CAD systems to design parts or produce prints
Other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
4–10 years through trade school, vocational education, apprenticeship, and/or comparable work experience
Strength in: GD&T; equipment troubleshooting; troubleshooting; CAD software; G-code; M-code; manual machining; tool/die/mold repair; tool/die/mold setup; blueprint reading
Preferred
Experience with CNC machines
