Supervisory IT Specialist (Policy & Planning)

Responsibilities
Serve as Chief of Information Management (IM) Division
Plan, direct, and supervise a team of government and contract network and telecommunications specialists
Establish policies and systems to increase production, improve techniques, and reduce costs
Ensure the subordinate positions are designed and structured to ensure optimum efficiency, effectiveness, and economy
Provide advice, guidance, and assistance to users of automated systems including operation of a help desk for end-user support
Approve contract plans and specifications
Monitor progress of contracted work to ensure critical deadlines are met
Qualification
Required
Must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment
A background investigation and credit check are required
One-year supervisory probationary period required
This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays
Must be able to obtain and maintain Comp TIA Security + certification by completing required training within six months of employment
This position has been designated as an IAT Level II
Employee is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position within six months of employment

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application
Basic Requirement for Supervisory IT Specialist (Policy & Planning), GS-2210-13: Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Participating in the development of plans regarding Information Technology (IT) services in a healthcare environment; 2) Overseeing project plans to develop medical facility IT policies; AND 3) Establishing metrics to measure and evaluate systems performance
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience which demonstrates each of the four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted
