Project Controls Analyst

The Project Controls Analyst will manage and maintain project controls processes for a complex bridge project, ensuring accurate reporting and proactive risk management in collaboration with various teams.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and project contractual requirements
Track job cost performance, production trends, and commitments to support accurate forecasting for the project
Maintain cost reports, dashboards, and variance explanations (budget vs. actual vs. forecast)
Support cost-to-complete projections and identify potential budget risks early
Coordinate with accounting/finance on cost coding, accruals, and monthly close alignment as needed
Support development and maintenance of the project schedule in Primavera P6 (or similar)
Track progress quantities and productivity to support schedule integrity and performance trends
Assist with look-ahead planning, milestone tracking, and schedule impact documentation
Support contract change management processes (CO logs, status tracking, backup support)
Help identify, document, and escalate project risks, productivity impacts, and cost/schedule trends
Assist with schedule/time impact analysis and change documentation packages
Follow best practices for project documentation, reporting, and controls systems specific to the project
Support document control workflows and ensure project information is organized, accurate, and accessible
Utilize project systems and software (P6, MS Office; Viewpoint preferred)
Work closely with the project team, estimating, and leadership to align reporting, cost controls, and schedule updates
Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders and represent the company professionally with clients, contractors, and vendors as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience)
8+ years of project controls experience in a heavy civil construction environment (cost + schedule + reporting)
Strong experience in cost controls, financial analysis, forecasting, and construction cost engineering
Proficiency with Primavera P6 (or similar scheduling tools) and Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills)
Strong understanding of construction accounting concepts (job cost, commitments, forecasting, earned value/production tracking)
Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills with experience working directly with project leadership and field teams
Must possess the ability to adapt to differing personalities, management styles, and team compositions
Attention to detail, organization, prioritization, and the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently are required
Team player with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills
Reliance on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
Strong analytical skills
Preferred
Experience supporting estimating, bid support, cost history tracking, or buyout analysis is strongly preferred
Experience with Viewpoint preferred
