Automotive Equipment Operator I - CL
NEOGOV is seeking an Automotive Equipment Operator I to join the City of Portland's Bureau of Transportation. The role involves operating various automotive vehicles and equipment in a city environment while performing ground activities and collaborating with the crew to ensure safe and effective operations.

Responsibilities
Drive and operate a variety of automotive motorized vehicles and related equipment which may include 12-yard dump trucks with trailers, compressor trucks, flusher trucks, boom trucks, tower or platform trucks, crane trucks, brush cutting tractors with flail mowers, and small front-end loaders in a city environment
Perform ground activities such as work zone traffic control, loading, unloading, digging, grading, bunching, blowing and other assigned manual labor
Operate a variety of equipment and power hand tools including flushers, brush cutters, mowers, blowers, sandblasting and pressure washing, jack hammer, chipper, and chainsaw and duties assigned
Collaborate with the crew and always represent the City of Portland to the public in a professional manner
Qualification
Required
Possess a valid Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License and medical card at time of application
Experience safely operating a Class A vehicle within a high-density urban city environment
Experience safely performing field work such as driving 12-yard dump trucks, pulling trailers, work zone traffic control, loading and unloading equipment, digging, grading, vegetation management equipment, power tools, chainsaws and/or other manual labor
Experience receiving and following oral and/or written instructions and communicating clearly with coworkers
Knowledge and/or experience safely securing a piece of equipment or a load
Possess an acceptable driving record and submit a 'complete' five-year court-certified Driver's Abstract of Driving Record (obtained at applicant's expense) upon offer
Positions may require additional endorsements. Positions in PBOT may require a Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire
Ability to pass a Prehire Evaluation that may require a medical exam, screenings and physical capacities test (PCT), after an offer of employment has been made and accepted
Take and pass a Pre-employment DOT drug test upon offer
