4H Youth Development Program Coordinator - Rochester, NY
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County is seeking a full-time 4-H Youth Development Program Coordinator to support 4-H Youth Development Program activities. Responsibilities
Deliver high quality 4-H Youth Development educational programs and events that address local, regional, and statewide 4-H Youth Development programming priorities with emphasis on STEM, healthy lifestyles, life skills and workforce preparation, community service, and leadership as well as school programming including Agriculture in the Classroom events and programs
Deliver programs and participate in special projects including but not limited to the 4-H Leader trainings, County Fair, State Fair, 4-H Fundraising, Public Presentations, Achievement Night, enrollment campaign, and other extension association activities, as assigned
Provide educational programs to students in traditional classroom settings at local public and private schools as well as in non-traditional settings, such as home-school groups and summer recreation programs
Utilize a variety of educational methods which may include direct teaching, group experiences, media, newsletters, electronic technology, internet, and distance learning to deliver program
Occasionally apply existing subject matter knowledge and utilize existing research-based curriculum to create lessons plans to deliver educational program
Serve as subject matter resource utilizing existing subject matter resources and materials
Provide educational program efforts via mass media including contributing articles to 4-H newsletter, utilizing emails, phone messages, and website postings
Interact with program participants representing CCE in a professional manner at all times
Represent CCE before the public, community leaders, government officials, Cornell, or other land grant Universities in a professional manner as part of program delivery
Implement program evaluation as designed
Interact with program participants, schools, association staff, program committees, county/community leaders, and other key stakeholders as identified to collect evaluation data
Assist in analyzing collected program evaluation data for reporting and program improvement purposes using standard, established policy, procedure, and methods
Communicate evaluation results and findings
Assist in recommending program changes to strengthen and improve programs
Assist with development of marketing strategies, public affairs, and special events to reach target audiences and meet program objectives
Assist Supervisor with planning and strategy development to strengthen and improve programs, as necessary
Assist with financial direction of program to include planning for program expenses and budgets as well as financial resources for program continuance and enhancement
Identify, manage, and enhance and engage networks of volunteers and volunteer leaders
Ensure volunteer direction and management procedures are followed according to established policies and procedures (VIP) by providing guidance, leadership and resources for volunteers and volunteer leaders including recruitment, screening, orientation, training, evaluation, and management
Assist with recruitment activities for new 4-H Youth Development volunteers
Assist with solving problems and resolving conflicts that arise within the program utilizing appropriate policies and procedures and with supervisor guidance as needed
Assist with identifying, anticipating, recommending, and planning for program needs/supplies
Assist with effectively managing program budget allocations
Assist in identifying ways to reduce costs and maximize existing resources within the program and Association
Assist with identifying activities and resources necessary to implement initiatives and projects
Apply existing subject matter knowledge to compile and maintain teaching materials
Compile and promote the use of 4-H project materials for 4-H Clubs and volunteer leaders
Act as first point of contact for 4-H Youth Development volunteers within the County
Coordinate administrative tasks related to 4-H Youth Development events
Assist with the coordination, inventory, organization and preparation of materials, equipment, reference materials, etc. for a variety of 4-H Youth Development and other extension association activities as assigned
Coordinate registration, set-up, prepare resources, for special projects including but not limited to the 4-H Fairs, Award Trips, Achievement Night, Auction, county-wide programs, and other extension association activities as assigned. This may include physically setting up the program space or assisting with the same
Coordinate ongoing club management tasks such as, but not limited to, club chartering, re-enrollment, and ongoing leader training and recruitment. A strong emphasis should be placed on reaching out to embrace the diversity of our community
Accurately collect, prepare, and maintain paperwork, participant files, and database as required by supervisor, Association, and funding source requirements
Maintain communication with constituents and the community through variety of methods such as contributing educational articles to program newsletters, media releases, bulk mailings, social media accounts, media interviews, website postings to increase program visibility and to address issues
Prepare and maintain a 4-H Newsletter and maintain the 4-H pages of the CCE website. Send out household mailings/emails as needed
Carry out primary responsibilities for 4-H data management, which encompasses inputting member, volunteer and program delivery information and providing printouts, updates, and deliver accurate year-end information as requested for state and federal reporting
Coordinate promotion and marketing of 4-H Youth Development and volunteer recruitment efforts through public relation initiatives and networking/collaborating with government, economic, educational, and other organizations
Prepare and submit accurate expense reports, mileage reports, receipts/supporting documentation, and/or vouchers in a timely manner per established policy and procedures
Maintain confidentiality of all information and data collected, accessed, and/or maintained
Provide data and information to assist with preparation of reports, impact statements, and success stories for funders, advisory committees, Board, and others as requested
Transport self and/or program materials/resources necessary for performing position responsibilities
In cooperation with the Supervisor, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities
Participate in all required orientation, training, and/or in-service meetings and trainings as scheduled/required
Support the association to maintain a safe working environment
Be familiar and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, association health, and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard
Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified
Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Cooperative Extension programs and other duties as assigned
Conduct all programming and activities in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
Aware of, and adheres to, established Cornell Cooperative Extension Association policies, procedures, and processes
Represent Cornell Cooperative Extension to the public, community leaders, colleagues, volunteers, members of Cornell University faculty and staff, government officials, and the general public in a professional manner at all times
Perform all assigned duties in a professional, timely, and accurate manner
Maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
Qualification
Preferred
Experience in guiding and collaborating with volunteers
Two years' experience relevant to the role of the position
Experience with Cooperative Extension or other similar educational organizations
Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in Spanish
Ability to identify and utilize program resources from the organization and the community
