Senior Network Operations Engineer
Alpha Business Solutions is seeking a Senior Network Operations Engineer responsible for monitoring and maintaining subsea cable systems and optical transmission networks. The role involves troubleshooting, maintenance, and communication during service impacts, working closely with internal and customer technical teams.
Responsibilities
Monitor subsea cable systems for faults and service-impacting issues
Monitor optical transmission equipment and optical networks for faults and service impacts
Collaborate with NOC IT and customer teams to ensure stability and performance of NOC cloud infrastructure
Create and maintain trouble tickets clearly describing issues related to optical transmission equipment and networks
Develop customer impact messages describing service disruptions for customer care and business stakeholders
Escalate issues in accordance with NOC procedures and document actions taken
Support NOC and business partner communication delivery processes
Coordinate with network, enterprise, and customer-facing teams to detect, respond to, and communicate service-impacting outages
Answer inbound support calls from multiple client organizations and external groups, providing appropriate technical assistance
Follow NOC operational procedures related to maintenance, repair, return of parts, security access, and network operations
Enforce all security processes related to company-owned and customer-owned assets and intellectual property
Assist in the development of training materials, documentation, and knowledge transfer resources
Proactively communicate with team members, subject matter experts, third-party vendors, and customers
Build collaborative working relationships with internal teams, partners, and customers
Identify, research, and recommend process improvements to management
Qualification
Required

Intermediate knowledge of telecommunications networks
Intermediate understanding of optical networks, optical transmission equipment, and system testing
Intermediate understanding of fiber optic cable terminology, standards, testing, and maintenance
Ability to capture key information during multiple concurrent conversations
Ability to correlate data from multiple information sources to identify root causes
Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced, 24x7 operational environment
Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Strong written communication skills with attention to clarity and grammar
Ability to explain complex technical issues in non-technical terms
Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow technically
Knowledge of technical writing and verbal explanation of complex systems
Willingness to work rotating shifts in a 24x7x365 environment
Preferred
Experience with subsea cable systems preferred
Experience with Ciena 6500 and Waveserver nodes preferred
Experience with Nokia PSI-M and PSI-8L nodes is a plus
Experience with Cisco NCS1004 nodes is a plus
Experience with cloud computing environments is a plus
