Project Engineer II
Achievers USA is seeking a Project Engineer II who will manage day-to-day engineering operations at the jobsite with guidance from senior staff. The role involves field engineering, document control, project controls, and VDC engineering responsibilities.
Responsibilities
FIELD ENGINEERING – in accordance with standard practices and may include walking the job and capturing safety observations, progress photos, and issues; Assists superintendent with the punch list process, preparation and maintenance of site logistics; Assists in facilitating BIM trade coordination meetings; Assists in the permit process; Assists in maintaining project schedule
DOCUMENT CONTROL ENGINEERING – in accordance with standard practices and may include managing the RFI and submittal process; Assists in processing change orders; Assists in preparation of and attending project meetings and recording meeting minutes; Manages drawings and specifications; Manages project closeout, turnover, and archiving processes; Manages preparation of bid packages including the distribution of bidding documents and assisting in managing bidder questions
PROJECT CONTROLS ENGINEERING – in accordance with standard practices and may include receiving, reviewing/evaluating contractor quotations for changes and negotiating appropriate costs; creating cost items in SAP for any change in price; assists in maintaining project schedule through updates, implementing logic modifications and adding activities; facilitating the pull planning process; observing field activities to understand enforcement of schedule with contractors in the field and to support superintendent; assisting in preparation of monthly owner project status reports and financial performance, as required; facilitating the subcontractor pay application process and assisting with the creation of the owner billing; facilitating productivity reporting for one or more self-perform trades
VDC ENGINEERING - communicates VDC purpose, standards, and follows in line with proper pursuit and project engagement technics with assistance from manager; delivers formal training; delivers formal training and jobsite specific training to team members, subcontractors, Architects and Owners; provides technical and process related support for Box, Bluebeam, BIM360 and other VDC supported systems as required; performs model QA/QC and Quantity Take-Off setup with assistance; works directly with project teams and prepares site logistics plans in latest technology platform(s) with limited support from senior team member
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field required
2–5 years of experience in a Project Engineer or similar role within a commercial or industrial construction environment
Demonstrated experience supporting field operations, document control, and project controls functions
Experience coordinating with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal design and construction teams
Working knowledge of construction means and methods, sequencing, and industry standards
Understanding of drawings, specifications, and design coordination processes
Knowledge of project scheduling principles, including CPM scheduling and pull planning
Familiarity with cost control, change management, and basic project financial reporting
General understanding of BIM/VDC workflows and model-based coordination
Proficiency in construction technology platforms
Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360
Bluebeam Revu
Box or similar document management systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for tracking and reporting
Ability to independently manage day-to-day engineering activities on the jobsite in alignment with Blue Cord standards and procedures
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to analyze and interpret technical information, drawings, and specifications
Strong problem-solving skills with sound judgment and appropriate escalation of complex issues
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented design-build environment
Demonstrated ability to mentor interns and junior engineers
High attention to detail and commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven construction environment
Ability to work in active construction environments, including walking jobsites, climbing stairs and ladders, and navigating uneven terrain
Willingness to travel to project sites as required
Preferred
Experience working on design-build projects
Experience with scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
Working knowledge of SAP or similar cost management systems
