Responsibilities

Lead innovative wastewater and reuse process design efforts, delivering sustainable and cost effective solutions for clients
Plan, schedule, and execute engineering work on large, complex wastewater and reuse projects, with full responsibility for design decisions and quality standards
Oversee preliminary and detailed design, engineering services during construction, and technical deliverables
Perform and review hydraulic calculations, treatment process evaluations, sizing, technical memoranda, and design documentation
Coordinate design activities with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and I&C engineers
Ensure QA/QC standards are met across all assigned projects
Supervise teams of project engineers and senior engineers across multiple disciplines
Mentor entry- and midlevel engineers, providing technical guidance, direction, and work review
Support staffing decisions by participating in recruitment, interviewing, and selection processes
Serve as Project Manager for mid to largescale projects, overseeing budgets, schedules, quality, and contractual obligations
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, key engineers, decision makers, and partner organizations
Lead negotiations on critical or complex issues with senior stakeholders internally and externally
Prepare and participate in proposals, interviews, and business development pursuits
Contribute to Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) and proposals for major project pursuits
Maintain extensive industry contacts and actively engage in professional associations (technical presentations, committee participation, leadership roles)
Identify needs for subconsultant support and actively manage their contributions

Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering
10+ years of wastewater and reuse design experience, with strong emphasis on hydraulics and physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes
Comprehensive experience in wastewater and reuse treatment plant design
Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
Proven ability to manage and design medium- to large sized projects with full responsibility for budget, schedule, contract, and quality
Strong engineering judgment with ability to solve unprecedented technical challenges
Ability to evaluate staff performance and recommend key improvements
Excellent communication skills, including client interaction and project team coordination
Knowledge of wastewater and reuse systems including master planning, conveyance, and treatment plant design
Understanding of structural/geotechnical design concepts, analytical lab techniques, and regulatory requirements related to drinking water
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and deliver high quality work within budget and schedule constraints
Proficiency in public speaking
Proficient in MS Word and Excel
Politically astute and sensitive to client preferences

Preferred

15+ years of wastewater and reuse design experience in environmental consulting engineering
Experience with MBR systems and advanced treatment facility design
Proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD
Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Strong design and construction phase experience
Skilled in tools for managing project financials, schedule control, and quality management
