Responsibilities

Design, prototype, and integrate biometric, chemical, or environmental sensors with microcontrollers such as ESP32, Raspberry Pi, or similar platforms
Perform sensor bring-up, debugging, calibration, and validation to ensure accurate and stable signal acquisition
Evaluate sensor performance under real-world conditions, including noise, drift, latency, and power consumption
Support hardware testing, troubleshooting, and power optimization on MCU-based systems
Develop and maintain reliable embedded firmware for resource-constrained, low-power IoT devices using C/C++ or MicroPython
Design firmware with a focus on long-running stability, task scheduling, buffering, and fault tolerance
Implement low-power strategies such as sleep modes, efficient polling, and interrupt-driven designs
Ensure robust data acquisition, buffering, and transmission from sensors to downstream systems
Build and maintain device-to-mobile communication pipelines, primarily using Bluetooth (BLE), Wi-Fi, or similar protocols
Focus on reliable, low-latency communication between devices and mobile applications, including connection management and error handling
Support cloud connectivity as needed (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT) for data storage, monitoring, or updates, without owning complex backend systems
Collaborate with mobile and backend teams to expose device data through APIs when required
Integrate hardware, firmware, mobile apps, and supporting cloud services into cohesive IoT systems
Test and debug issues related to connectivity, latency, sensor reliability, power usage, and scalability
Use iterative prototyping and testing to improve system robustness and performance
Implement foundational IoT security practices, including authentication, encryption, and secure data transmission
Follow best practices for handling sensitive or regulated data where applicable
Contribute to system designs that prioritize reliability, data integrity, and safe device operation
Support remote device deployment, monitoring, diagnostics, and firmware updates
Improve systems based on performance data, testing results, and user feedback
Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, mobile, and product teams to solve problems creatively under real-world constraints
Actively contribute ideas during early-stage prototyping and system iteration
