Gator Market Student Assistant
University of Florida is seeking a Gator Market Student Assistant to provide support during Gator Market days and assist with vendor communications. Respond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staff
Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism
Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
Establish an exemplary work ethic by being proactive, self-motivated, and dependable
Participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings, and evaluations
Complete all required training
Be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and academic breaks, as needed
Act as an ambassador for all areas within the Reitz Union, as well as the University of Florida, providing accurate information and campus resources
Help recruit outside vendors, university departments, and student organizations to participate in Gator Market days
Communicate with outside vendors, university departments, and student organizations regarding table reservations and pricing
Monitor and manage vendor communications by checking email and responding to calls, providing detailed assistance and resolving inquiries promptly
Oversee the reservation system to track payments, verify vendor documentation, and review items for sale
Determine approximate number of attendees for Gator Market days
Distribute and analyze satisfaction surveys for Gator Market days
Maintain records for training compliance and approval documentation as necessary
Attend Gator Market days (approx. 4 per semester) to ensure efficient operations
Assist outside vendors with locating their table and provide directions for loading, unloading, and parking
Assist in ensuring and enforcing that all vendors comply with established Gator Market and university policies
Assist in documenting event details and observations on the day of the event
Assist with set up and breakdown when necessary
Must be physically able to lift to 45 pounds
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Be a current UF degree seeking student registered at a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester
Respond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staff
Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism
Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
Establish an exemplary work ethic by being proactive, self-motivated, and dependable
Participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings, and evaluations
Complete all required training
Be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and academic breaks, as needed
Act as an ambassador for all areas within the Reitz Union, as well as the University of Florida, providing accurate information and campus resources
Must be physically able to lift to 45 pounds
This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through Other Personnel Services (OPS) or Federal Work-Study (FWS) and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average
Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week
Preferred
Demonstrate previous experience with customer service, event staff, or administrative roles
Proficient with verbal and written communication
Physically able to perform minimum tasks related to job duties listed above
Demonstrate the ability to work independently
