Senior Director of Engineering
Storm4 is a leading provider of high-density data center cooling solutions, supporting hyperscale, colocation, and AI infrastructure projects across the U.S. The Senior Director of Engineering is responsible for the technical ownership and delivery of data center cooling systems, leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and ensuring quality and standards in large-scale deployments.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership across data center cooling engineering (air, liquid, hybrid systems)
Lead and mentor mechanical, thermal, and systems engineering teams
Own engineering standards, design reviews, and technical governance
Develop project-level engineering scopes, schedules, and resource plans
Partner with PMs on scope, cost, schedule, and execution risk
Support preconstruction, technical due diligence, and solution design
Interface with clients, EPCs, OEMs, and equipment vendors
Resolve complex thermal, integration, and reliability challenges
Support commissioning, testing, and operational handover
Drive continuous improvement in cooling performance, efficiency, and scalability
Qualification
Required
BS in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
7-10 years in data center, HVAC, or thermal systems engineering
Experience leading engineering teams on mission-critical infrastructure
Deep knowledge of data center cooling architectures (CRAC/CRAH, chilled water, direct-to-chip, CDU, etc.)
Strong understanding of system integration, testing, and commissioning
Experience supporting design–build or OEM delivery models
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred
PE license or equivalent professional certification
Experience with liquid cooling for AI / high-density compute
Familiarity with hyperscale or colocation environments
Exposure to cost modeling, VE, and technical due diligence
