The NYS Office of Information Technology Services is seeking an Information Technology Specialist 3 to manage outreach activities for the Street & Address Maintenance Program within Geospatial Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for training staff, maintaining documentation, supervising technical staff, and ensuring the quality of GIS data layers.

Responsibilities

Train agency staff and data maintenance partners on how to use the SAM Program's GIS Data maintenance application and the cloud-based editing tool
Maintain training materials and provide end-user application support for agency staff and data maintenance partners
Maintain NYS GIS Clearinghouse web page content related to SAM Program data maintenance and related published documents
Supervision of technical staff
Follow quality assurance procedures for maintaining the NYS Streets and Address Points GIS layers
Assist with testing data maintenance software updates and new functionality. Provide recommendations for application enhancements to improve usability and efficiency
Actively participate on state and national committees, user groups, and GIS standard development workgroups whose focus is on addresses, streets, and other GIS data for NG9-1-1. Monitor standards for impacts to NYS Streets and Address Points GIS layers and implement changes as needed to comply

Required

One year of permanent competitive services as an Information Technology Specialist 3 OR in a position at G-21 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law
Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed
Documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis
Some positions may require fingerprinting
Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs
