Responsibilities

This position serves as the technical lead in one or more personnel specialties such as staffing, employee relations, payroll, labor relations, and EEO
Typical assignment(s) include: Processing new hires to include entry and background checks as the designated Security Manager, recertification of tier investigations, conducting benefits enrollment for new employees, benefit changes/questions for current employees and provides assistance in administering the employee benefits program, processing terminations, personnel changes and employment verifications
Maintains a high degree of contact with employees processing requests and answering questions with the ability to review related rules, regulations and internal instructions and explain them to employees
Assists HR Director with recruitment and interview process and systems, payroll/benefit related audits/reports and special projects
Prepares correspondence, maintains employee files, HR Systems and Policies and serves as a payroll liaison for MCCS Henderson Hall staff
Relays instructions from supervisor

Demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance
Ensures worksite materials and tools are available to complete work
Reports workplace injuries immediately to the immediate or higher-level supervisor, and to the Human Resources office in the absence of the immediate supervisor
Checks with supervisor on problems
Checks on work and meets productivity goals
Ensures employees follow security, safety and housekeeping rules
Conducts on-the-job training and instructions
Performs a variety of responsible administrative duties requiring a substantial level of judgement, experience, and discretion
Screens calls and visitors
Personally handles majority of requests for information and refers others as appropriate
Maintains organization and updates various files, regulations, manuals and directives
Reviews outgoing correspondence and reports ensuring proper format and concurrence with established directives
Maintains calendar and schedules appointments and meetings according to workload and current issues of importance for the Director
Handles matters and situations of a confidential and sensitive nature
Performs daily responsibilities independently
Acts as a liaison among employees in management level positions, managers, local command POC's, outside agencies, other commands and other MCCS divisions
Assists in developing reports and data
Maintains stock of office supplies and organizes office
Assists with special events for the Director
Assists in developing policies and SOP's
Prepares documents for review for the Director
Assists the Director in daily organization, timeliness, and efficiency
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy
Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner
Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact
Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems
Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services
Takes action to solve problems quickly
Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise
Adheres to safety regulations and standards
Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures
Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor
Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in human resources or a related field appropriate to work of the position, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR three years of practical experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above
Must have the ability to lead others with administrative tasks
Must have ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
