Infrastructure Team Project Manager

Virginia Farm Bureau Family of Companies is seeking an Infrastructure Team Project Manager to lead critical IT infrastructure initiatives. This role is responsible for project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and compliance requirements while collaborating with internal and external teams.

Responsibilities

Define scope, objectives, success criteria, and deliverables for infrastructure initiatives; establish stage gates and acceptance criteria
Develop and maintain integrated schedules, budgets, and resource plans; manage critical path, dependencies, and constraints
Drive operational readiness (runbooks, SOPs, support models), transition to steady state, and decommissioning where applicable
Publish status reports and dashboards, track benefits realization and post-implementation outcomes
Maintain transparent communications of milestones, risks, issues, and decisions to leadership and cross-functional teams
Lead coordination with external vendors (e.g., Cisco, Microsoft, Finys) and internal engineering teams; manage statements of work and deliverables
Facilitate cross-team prioritization for non-strategic initiatives; align intake channels, escalation paths, and decision-making cadence
Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies; maintain project scope, decisions, timelines, and contingency plans
Ensure adherence to IT governance, change management controls, security standards, and regulatory requirements
Assist in implementing and improving upon CMDB/asset accuracy, configuration baselines, and traceability across environments
Coordinate vulnerability, patch, and identity/PAM initiatives to reduce operational risk
Lead project squads; clarify roles and responsibilities with RACI; remove impediments and coach for delivery excellence
Promote collaboration between infrastructure engineers, service desk, operations, security, and business units
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus

Required

Strong technical foundation across networking, server platforms, cloud, and ITSM
Proven project leadership
Effective collaboration with internal engineering teams, across other IT teams, and with strategic vendors
Experience in developing project best practices
Ability to train/mentor delivery teams on defined project management principles
Experience in monitoring inter-project dependencies
Ability to consolidate status and financial reporting for leadership
Experience partnering with Change Board and Architecture Review Boards (ARB)
Ability to ensure adherence to delivery methodologies, budgets, and project timelines
Experience in establishing and implementing mid to long term (3-5 years) impact on business results and talent planning
