Responsibilities
Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problems encountered
Order replacement parts, install them in servers, and ship defective parts back to their respective vendors
Update server firmware to ensure the latest approved versions are installed
Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers
Reach out to and assist network administrators with server-related issues, including:
Replacing broken or damaged cables
Re-routing cables to different ports on servers or switches
Replacing optics on server and switch ports
Replacing parts and installing upgraded versions in servers
Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it so network administrators can remotely log in and run configurations
Assist network administrators who request specific assistance with servers or switches
Perform other duties as assigned, based on operational needs
Qualification
Required
5–7 years' experience as a L2 Technician
Ability to troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate problems
Experience ordering replacement parts and installing them in servers
Ability to update server firmware to ensure the latest approved versions are installed
Experience configuring IP addresses and default login credentials on servers
Ability to assist network administrators with server-related issues
Experience replacing broken or damaged cables
Ability to re-route cables to different ports on servers or switches
Experience replacing optics on server and switch ports
Ability to replace parts and install upgraded versions in servers
Experience temporarily racking and stacking a server or switch in a cabinet and cabling it
Ability to assist network administrators with specific requests regarding servers or switches
Willingness to perform other duties as assigned based on operational needs
