Responsibilities

Perform NDT inspections using approved methods (UT, MT, PT, RT, VT, and/or ET as applicable) on mobile and fixed plant equipment
Ensure inspections are executed in accordance with site procedures, OEM standards, and applicable codes
Accurately document findings, measurements, and defect locations
Identify critical defects and immediately communicate high-risk findings to MEM supervision and planners
Trend NDT results to identify repeat failure modes and emerging risk areas
Support development of defect elimination strategies and reliability improvement plans
Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), FMEA/FMECA, and reliability charters
Validate repair effectiveness through follow-up inspections
Build or support creation of high-quality work orders with clear descriptions, failure modes, and recommended actions
Attach inspection reports, photos, and measurement data to work orders
Support backlog cleanup and accuracy of NDT-related work orders
Work with planners to optimize inspection frequencies and model work orders
Provide input into PM and predictive maintenance strategies
Support alignment of inspection tasks with AMT / CMMS standards
Use generally recognized, advanced techniques for thermograph analysis, parameter identification, and fault diagnosis
Good understanding of additional NDT techniques: Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Visual and Optical Testing (VOT), and/or Electromagnetic Testing (ET)
Possess a good understanding of Tribological principles and be able to establish procedures for collecting and analyzing oil samples from different equipment components
Recommend corrective action and/or design modifications including component change or repair, isolation, damping, change of stiffness, and change of mass
Provide technical guidance to those new to the NDT field
Interpret and evaluate published ISO codes of practice and International Standards and specifications related to non-destructive testing
Participate in the application of reliability methodologies for supporting the continuous improvement of maintenance strategies (Reliability Centered Maintenance – RCM; Root Cause Analysis – RCA; Failure Modes Effect Criticality Analysis – FMECA; etc.)
Research and generate reports to communicate timely and effectively the findings related to the performance of equipment in particular when a potential failure is identified
Assist with warranty claims due to faulty components for critical equipment
Fill in for the Reliability Engineer when required
Work with vendors on machine and component condition and repairs
Punctuality and regular attendance are required
Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies
Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management
Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state
Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them
Work without significant risk of harm to self and others
Perform other duties as required

Required

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records
Three to five years of experience in mobile maintenance and/or operations of industrial activities related to heavy equipment required with preference to mining, oil, and gas
Experience with safety procedures for inspecting drivelines, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic cylinders, and other mobile equipment required
Good working knowledge and skills with the Microsoft Office software package, along with Power Bi, with the ability to work with software to track and schedule inspection and create inspection templates
Ability to use or learn the use of JDE functionality for performing transactions related to work management
Ability to learn and use the National Electric Code (NEC) in acceptance testing
Good understanding of reliability methodologies for supporting the continuous improvement of maintenance strategies (RCM, RCA, FMECA, etc.)
Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets
Strong verbal, written, analytical, problem solving and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
Must have a professional attitude that is willing to find new uses for the existing technologies
Must be willing to educate others on the use of the technologies
Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists
Shift work, overtime, holidays and weekends (flexible work schedule to perform inspections) are required
Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions required
Ability to work and lead others in a team environment

Preferred

ISO Category 3 or equivalent for Vibration Analysis preferred
ISO Category 1 or 2 or equivalent for Infrared Analysis desired
Three years of experience in the application of Tribological principles a plus
Level 2 certification (as per ASNT or equivalent) of at least four of the following: MPT, LPT, RT, UT, VT and/or ET is desired
Possess an advanced knowledge of Tribological principles and be able to establish standards for oil collection and the analysis of oil samples from different equipment components
