Responsibilities

Provide technical assistance in the development of documented safety analyses, technical safety requirements, and related technical support documentation in accordance with industry and company quality standards
Ensure that the developed nuclear safety documentation complies with requirements and as necessary, applicable controls are implemented in implementing procedures
Identify and tailor applicable functional, operational, and regulatory compliance-based requirements for missions, projects, and activities
Support safety basis implementation and readiness activities at NNSA facilities
Provide expert level knowledge of integrating nuclear safety requirements to new missions, facilities, and projects
Work with a team of exceptional professionals to analyze and solve technical nuclear safety issues
Working knowledge of the USQ process

Required

Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in nuclear safety industry through support of the Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and/or the commercial nuclear industry
Previous experience with the use and implementation of 10 CFR 830, DOE O 420.1C, DOE STD-3009, DOE STD-1189, and related directives and standards is required
Working knowledge of the USQ process is required
Candidate must demonstrate personal accountability for facility/project schedules, deadlines, budgets, and the safe performance of work
Candidate must be a US Citizen
Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance
Must be able to interface with government program representatives on high-level, technical, and project issues
Ability to successfully make quick decisions and meet goals while working under time constraints
Possess planning, organizational, and analytical skills
Demonstrated keen attention to detail
Possess communication and interpersonal skills
Apply proven technical knowledge working with multiple functional areas to provide comprehensive recommendations
Ability to multi-task between changing requirements and priorities
Requires a motivated self-starter who pays attention to details to support assignments while functioning in a time-sensitive, fluid environment

Preferred

Previous experience in developing and maintaining safety analysis and related documents is preferred at a DOE or NNSA site
Bachelor's degree in nuclear, engineering, math, or science preferred
Alternate combination of education and experience will be considered where candidate has an advanced degree
