Member Engagement & Growth Manager
Spear Education is seeking a Member Engagement & Growth Manager to enhance member experiences and drive engagement within their ecosystem. The role focuses on developing lifecycle strategies that convert free users into paying members and collaborating cross-functionally to improve overall member retention and growth.

Responsibilities
Own the member lifecycle from first touch to long-term loyalty
Develop and manage data-informed lifecycle campaigns that drive onboarding, activation, engagement, re-engagement, and retention across all member segments
Create structured educational journeys that help members discover and fully utilize learning content, CE pathways, and key platform features
Identify behaviors that correlate with long-term success and build programs that encourage those habits early and often
Lead free-to-paid conversion strategy using behavior analytics and targeted engagement campaigns
Build and optimize upsell and cross-sell campaigns that increase adoption of higher-tier plans and add-ons
Guide members to the next best action based on usage, intent signals, and lifecycle stage
Define and maintain segmentation models for free members, paid members, and priority sub-groups
Personalize messaging across email, in-product, and lifecycle channels to improve activation, conversion, and retention
Run structured experimentation and maintain a test-and-learn roadmap tied to clear KPIs and business outcomes
Partner closely with Product, Marketing, Customer Success, Sales, Content, and Education teams to align messaging, upgrade motions, and success metrics
Support in-product engagement and upgrade experiences in coordination with Product teams
Create and maintain lifecycle playbooks, campaign calendars, and documentation to ensure consistent, scalable execution
Provide regular reporting, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership
Qualification
Required
Driving engagement, retention, and conversion in a subscription or membership-based business
Building behavior-driven lifecycle campaigns and segmentation strategies
Turning free users into paying customers through emails, in-product messages, or upgrade prompts
Timing communications based on product behavior, not just elapsed time
Using analytics and product engagement tools such as PostHog, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap, Pendo, GA4, or FullStory
Partnering cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams
Proven success driving engagement, retention, and conversion in a subscription or membership-based business
Strong experience building behavior-driven journeys, segmentation strategies, and lifecycle campaigns
Experience deciding when and how to message free users or encourage upgrades based on product behavior, not just time
Comfort partnering cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams
Data-informed mindset with experience using experimentation and performance insights to optimize outcomes
Excellent written communication skills and the ability to translate value into clear, compelling messaging
Preferred
Experience in virtual learning, continuing education, or professional membership environments
Proficiency with analytics and product engagement tools is required, such as: PostHog (preferred), Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap, Pendo, GA4, or FullStory
