Transportation Engineer I, II or III (TP and D)

Government Administration

Responsibilities

May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks
Monitors consultant design contracts
Monitors consultants' progress and work quality; checks invoices and associated documents; prepares supplemental agreements
Performs engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts
Performs facility engineering work such as layouts, sketches, detailed plans, specifications and estimates
Performs moderately complex structural analysis of bridge designs
Performs planning work such as plan review, calculations and assisting in transportation planning studies
Provides design engineering support for districts in project development
Coordinates with others to develop, monitor and update integrated project plans and schedules to ensure projects are executed in the most efficient manner possible
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation
Coordinates and/or monitors assigned projects/programs/plans
May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks
Monitors consultants' progress and work quality; checks invoices and associated documents; prepares supplemental agreements
Monitors contractors' compliance with plans and specifications
Performs and coordinates the review and processing of Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E) submission, special specifications or special provisions
Performs complex structural analysis of bridge designs
Reviews and revises schematics, PS&E, project designs, shop drawings and field changes for traffic control devices, signals, signs, markings, detours, traffic control plans, electrical distribution and roadway lighting and traffic management systems
Reviews, processes and certifies project design plans developed by consulting engineers
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS
4 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience for Transportation Engineer I
5 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience for Transportation Engineer II
5 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience for Transportation Engineer III
Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle
TX Licensed Prof Engineer
If performing underwater bridge inspections: Must have Open Water Diver certification
For Bridge Inspection: Must have completed a comprehensive training course based on the Bridge Inspector's Training Manual or NICET Level III or IV certification in Bridge Safety Inspection within (1) year of date of hire
