DMS Consultant
Helion Technologies is seeking a DMS Consultant to act as a trusted advisor to dealership clients navigating DMS transitions. This role involves providing expertise in DMS platforms, dealership operations, and business workflows to guide clients and internal teams through the transition process.
Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic consultant and subject matter expert for dealership clients undergoing DMS transitions
Provide advisory support around dealership business processes, with a strong emphasis on fixed ops (service, parts, warranty, accounting, and related workflows)
Offer expert guidance on DMS platforms, including Tekion, CDK, and Reynolds & Reynolds, and how they support dealership operations
Help clients understand what to expect during a DMS conversion, including: Key milestones and dependencies. Impacts to dealership departments and workflows. Data, integration, and operational considerations
Advise on systems integrations and downstream dependencies connected to the DMS
Coordinate and communicate with key stakeholders, including: Dealership leadership and department managers. Internal or outsourced IT teams (such as Helion). Contacts at the outgoing DMS provider and the incoming DMS provider
Ensure the appropriate roles and responsibilities are clearly defined across dealership staff, IT, and vendors
Partner closely with Helion’s IT Project Managers to align consulting guidance with technical execution
Travel to client sites when needed to support critical project phases or stakeholder engagement
Qualification
Required
Deep, hands-on knowledge of Dealer Management Systems, with a strong preference for Tekion
Strong understanding of dealership operations and business acumen, particularly fixed operations and accounting
Experience advising dealerships on process, workflow, and operational impacts related to DMS platforms
Experience with how DMS transitions are executed, including vendor coordination and system integrations
Proven ability to operate in a client-facing, consultative role with senior dealership stakeholders
Excellent communication skills—you can translate technical and operational concepts into clear, actionable guidance
Experience working within or alongside dealership IT, MSPs, or automotive technology vendors
Exposure to large-scale dealership system changes or modernization initiatives
Project-based consulting experience in the automotive space
