Sr Project Engineer - Turbomachinery Control Systems

Honeywell’s CCC business unit is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Project Engineer to design, engineer, and deliver advanced turbomachinery control systems for compressors, steam turbines, and gas turbines across the Oil & Gas, LNG, and Energy sectors. In this role, you’ll lead technically complex projects that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and reliability for major global energy customers.

Responsibilities

Project Engineering: Lead full engineering lifecycle of turbomachinery control system projects, from initial concept through detailed design, implementation, internal testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and final delivery, while ensuring they meet requirements, timeframes, and budgets
Technical Authority: Lead technical discussions with clients and cross-functional teams, translating complex requirements into robust engineering solutions
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, field engineering, and R&D to ensure project objectives are met and solutions are aligned with customer needs
Engineering Documentation: Develop comprehensive project documentation, including I/O lists, Network Architecture diagrams, Control System diagrams/P&IDs, Control Narratives, Modbus lists, and FAT/SAT procedures
System Integration & Testing: Lead internal testing and reviews to ensure quality and compliance, then lead and manage FAT with clients, including punch-list resolution and project delivery
Control System Development: Program and configure PLC/DCS platforms (CCC Prodigy/Vanguard, Allen-Bradley, Honeywell Experion), develop HMI graphics, and implement industrial communication protocols (Modbus, HART, etc)
Project Scheduling & Delivery: Collaborate with project and engineering managers to develop schedules, allocate resources, and manage timelines to ensure successful project completion
Control Applications Domain Expertise: Learn and master CCC’s proprietary turbomachinery control application algorithms and contribute to ongoing product and process enhancements
Commissioning Support: Provide expert remote support to field engineers during on-site commissioning and troubleshooting phases
Change Management: Maintain and update engineering documents throughout the project lifecycle to reflect evolving customer requirements and design changes
Mentorship & Talent Development: Mentor and train junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning
Process & Efficiency Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains within engineering workflows and project execution

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
5+ years of experience in industrial automation, process control, or turbomachinery (compressors, steam turbines, or gas turbines)
5+ years of hands‑on experience with PLC or DCS platforms, industrial instrumentation, and producing engineering documentation (P&IDs, I/O lists, wiring diagrams, or network diagrams)
5+ years of experience developing PLC logic, HMI graphics, and working with industrial communication protocols (including Modbus)

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Instrumentation, or related discipline)
6+ years of engineering experience in industrial automation or process control, preferably within Oil & Gas, LNG, or Energy
Experience with CCC control systems (Prodigy, Vanguard, Series 3++)
Hands‑on experience with major PLC/DCS platforms (e.g., Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Honeywell Experion, Emerson DeltaV, Yokogawa Centum VP)
Strong background in industrial instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, control valves)
Experience with control panel design and fabrication, including wiring diagrams, bill of materials, and compliance with NEMA and hazardous‑area standards
Advanced PLC programming and HMI development skills
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, HART, Profibus)
Experience with industrial cybersecurity configuration for control systems and OT network devices
Proficiency with MS Office and project management tools
Strong communication, problem‑solving, and technical decision‑making skills
