Responsibilities
Provides leadership and direction in the daily management of all General Accounting activities. This includes ownership of the monthly financial closing and the provision of all related financial reporting for the division in accordance with GAAP, the Capital Asset Acquisition Request (CAAR) process and inventory management. Reinforces integrity and ensures compliance with all internal and external regulatory requirements through appropriate internal controls
Responsible for all financial planning & analysis of the business which includes short and long-term planning and forecasting, and partnership with the leadership teams to develop and execute the financial plan and strategy of the organization
Partners with the Division Manager (DM) to develop business strategy and drive execution of key strategic initiatives
Work directly with the DM and division leadership to help create and analyze new business deals to drive the growth and profitability of the businesses in alignment with the business strategy
Work directly with the DM and division leadership to identify/promote continuous improvement initiatives in operations, asset management and productivity programs to maximize operating efficiencies and profitability
Works to drive financial acumen in the business to help drive consistent financially based decisions (Financial Excellence)
Works closely with the Segment and Corporate Finance teams to ensure that there is adequate documentation, process flows and support for compliance with corporate policies
Leverages broad-based understanding of key business fundamentals to drive financial health, improve operating efficiencies and profitability
Leads, develops and motivates a team of finance and accounting professionals by empowering and encouraging initiative, requiring high quality, communicating openly and honestly and providing regular and fair performance feedback
Qualification
Required
Minimum of eight to ten years of experience in accounting with at least three years of managerial experience in a mid to large size manufacturing company (or division thereof)
Full spectrum of Finance experience, including accounting, compliance and financial analysis/reporting
Excellent working knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls
Persuasive leadership skills and superb technical accounting skills to coach, guide and motivate the accounting team as a valued resource to the organization
Strong competencies in leadership, continuous improvement, and business acumen
Data driven, analytical approach to problem solving leading to systemic improvements and lasting results
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and develop people as well as drive process improvement is required
Impeccable integrity; High Emotional Intelligence (EI); Superior interpersonal skills; able to communicate and engage personnel at all levels of the organization
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
Preferred
Publicly held company experience and experience at a ‘Big 4' or ‘Tier 2” public accounting firm preferred
CPA, MBA or advanced degree preferred
