Responsibilities

Develop and design advanced vehicle components and systems. Apply theoretical principles and engineering techniques in designing a vehicle that is reliable, serviceable, energy efficient, competitive, and uses the latest technology available in the industry
Interface with engineering personnel to determine the most effective and economic design and materials to be used in product parts
Interface and support design and development activities with multiple internal departments and external suppliers in the product development and testing phases
Support research state-of-the-art developments in the vehicle industry
Apply statistical and engineering techniques in designing and testing. Use programming and modeling techniques in conjunction with mathematical analysis
Interface with product regulation and compliance personnel to design vehicles that meet government regulations, restrictions and codes
Interface with the Test and Validation team to analyze problems encountered in prototype development and testing. Support the creation of test plans, execution of test results
Creation, release and maintenance of electrical harnesses, electrical schematics and bill of materials (BOM) as well as supporting the creation and release of hardware, software and feature specifications for different vehicle control systems
Address production & field issues with swift and thorough corrective actions including both long term and short-term initiatives

Required

BS/BA and 0-2 years of relevant experience OR 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
Basic understanding of CAN message formatting & network topology requirements for the serial control and communication networks typically used in today's heavy-duty vehicles (CAN)
Demonstrated teamwork skills, including cross-functional collaboration
Understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes & downstream impacts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems
Demonstrated ability to accomplish tasks with the highest level of ethics while having a proven track record of developing strong working relationships with fellow employees
Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Project)

Preferred

1-2 years of related experience preferred
Experience developing and releasing commercial vehicle electrical systems and controls to production
Project Management
Working knowledge of Capital Harness System (CHS) or similar CAD system electrical workbench
Working knowledge of DTNA Engineering Documentation systems
Working 3D design experience (NX electrical design or similar)
