Co-Op Embedded Software Engineer

Responsibilities
Assist in the development, configuration, and integration of embedded software under the guidance of experienced engineers
Collaborate with hardware and software teams to design, implement, and test FPGA-based systems
Support the development and debugging of software in C/C++ for embedded systems, including working with build tools like make
Gain exposure to projects involving AMD Versal and ZynqMP FPGAs, as well as Intel x86 chip architectures
Assist in the development and maintenance of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
Work within Linux/Unix environments, including basic shell scripting, to support embedded systems development
Learn to debug and troubleshoot embedded software and hardware interactions
Qualification
Required
Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology
Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher
Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
A strong desire to learn and grow in the field of embedded systems
Exposure to C/C++ programming through coursework, academic projects, or personal initiatives
Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments, including working in a bash terminal
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eagerness to learn hardware debugging techniques
Effective communication skills and a willingness to collaborate with team members
Preferred
Some academic or personal project experience with tools such as Yocto, Buildroot, or Petalinux
Basic understanding of FPGA technologies and their applications in embedded systems
Familiarity with AMD Versal or ZynqMP FPGAs
Some exposure to Intel x86 chip architectures
Interest in CI/CD principles and tools
Comfortable working in a lab environment developing/debugging software interfaces on hardware
GPA of 3.00 or higher
Ability to work year around, able to work 14 or more hours per week (we accommodate school schedules)
12 months or more remaining until graduation
Demonstrated ability to work in teams
Participated in extracurricular and community service activities
