Mechanical Engineer, Associate (Entry Level)

Naval Nuclear Laboratory is dedicated to ensuring the safety and reliability of the nation's naval nuclear reactors. Responsibilities

Supporting planning for and execution of reactor servicing work at various shipyards across the country
Development and implementation of equipment and procedure modifications to streamline operations
Emergent troubleshooting and problem solving to ensure the safe and timely completion of shipyard work
Team up with many interfaces such as NNL technical support groups, BPMI, shipyard and Naval Reactors personnel to complete deliverables and support operations
Opportunities to travel to the shipyards to watch operations for projects that they have successfully completed

Required

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field
Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field
All candidates must be U.S. citizens
Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter
FMP is a government contractor and maintains a drug free workplace and workforce
All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707

Preferred

Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology degrees are preferred, but not required
Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
Experience in equipment design, structural analysis, fit-up studies
Demonstrated ability to write well and work collaboratively in a team environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with engineering software (e.g. Mathcad, 3D Modeling, Finite Element Analysis)
Possess a can-do attitude, a team-oriented mindset, and a pragmatic approach to solving complex problems
