Control Engineer
F-o-r-t-u-n-e Personnel Consultants of Troy (FPC-Troy) is seeking a Control Engineer to design, develop, program, and commission control systems for manufacturing equipment. The role involves troubleshooting control systems, optimizing performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure effective integration within the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, program, and commission control systems for new and existing manufacturing equipment, including PLC logic and HMI development
Initiate control system designs from written sequences of operation and create electrical and pneumatic diagrams using software like AutoCAD Electrical
Select and integrate electrical components and hardware, including motor controllers, vision systems, I/O systems, and other field devices
Develop and implement software standards for internal use and external suppliers to transmit data from PLCs and HMIs to MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and ensure secure data transfer between automation devices, MES, and IT infrastructures
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with control systems, robotics, and automated equipment to minimize downtime and optimize performance
Provide technical support to production staff on control system operation and maintenance
Conduct preventative maintenance on instrumentation and control systems
Identify opportunities for process and system optimization, implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reliability
Develop and implement new controls system functionalities to improve process effectiveness
Document control system designs, programming, modifications, and maintenance procedures
Generate and maintain clear and accurate electrical and pneumatic diagrams
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to ensure seamless integration of control systems within the overall manufacturing process
Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field
Experience in a Controls Engineering role, preferably in automotive manufacturing
Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley RSLogix5000) and HMI development (e.g., FactoryTalkView)
Strong understanding of electrical circuits and control theory
Experience with automated systems, robotics, and welding systems
Familiarity with industrial networks and data communication protocols
Ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office applications
