Responsibilities

Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts to develop innovative solutions in areas such as advanced computing, scientific workflows and data management, and AI for science
Assists in software development, including the design, maintenance, and support high-quality software systems
Collaborates effectively with industry partners, other laboratories, and academic institutions to solve complex scientific problems requiring multidisciplinary teams
Provides technical leadership on projects, including planning future projects and guiding ongoing research and development efforts

Required

Extensive knowledge in solving large-scale computational and/or data-centric problems across various scientific disciplines and system architectures
Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and abstract specific problems into generalizable solutions
Significant experience in interdisciplinary research involving collaboration with discipline scientists, computer scientists, and mathematicians
Proven ability to lead projects, develop strategic plans, and contribute to the advancement of research and development initiatives
Demonstrated familiarity with modern software development and sustainment methodologies and tools
RD4: Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience, or a Master's degree and 7+ years of experience, or a Doctorate and 6+ years of experience, or equivalent
Ability to model Argonne's core values of impact, respect, integrity, teamwork and safety
