Director of Concrete Technical Services
The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) is seeking a full-time Technical Director to serve as the organization’s principal technical authority, industry ambassador, and contractor advocate. This senior leadership role is responsible for advancing ASCC’s technical influence, representing contractor interests in national and international standards development, and delivering high-value technical guidance, education, and resources to ASCC members.

Responsibilities
Lead ASCC’s Influence in Codes, Standards, and Technical Policy
Serve as ASCC’s primary representative to the American Concrete Institute (ACI), attending and actively participating in key domestic and international committee meetings most relevant to contractors
Advocate for contractor-focused perspectives in the development and revision of codes, standards, and technical documents
Review, draft, and submit formal comments, objections, and proposed revisions to ACI and other standards bodies to ensure constructability and practicality are prioritized
Recruit, mentor, and coordinate ASCC member participation on technical committees, including voting and leadership roles
Maintain strong working relationships with ACI staff, committee chairs, and industry technical leaders
Provide timely reporting to ASCC leadership and committees on standards activity, emerging issues, and future impacts
Represent ASCC Across the Broader Concrete and Construction Industry
Serve as ASCC’s technical ambassador with allied organizations including ASTM, NRMCA, ACA, CRSI, AGC, and others where contractor interests are affected
Promote collaboration, alignment, and shared initiatives that advance practical construction solutions
Represent ASCC at industry conferences, technical forums, and workshops as a recognized authority and spokesperson
Strengthen ASCC’s national visibility and credibility as the leading contractor-focused technical organization
Oversee and actively participate in ASCC’s technical inquiry program, responding to member questions via hotline, email, and direct consultation
Provide practical, standards-aligned solutions to field issues encountered by concrete contractors
Lead the development, revision, and publication of technical resources including guidelines, best practices, position statements, and reference materials
Conduct regular assessments (surveys, direct engagement, data review) to identify emerging technical needs and priorities
Engage directly with member companies through site visits, regional meetings, and targeted outreach
Develop and deliver a comprehensive technical education program, including webinars, workshops, and in-person training
Author and oversee the publication of technical articles, bulletins, and white papers that reinforce ASCC’s leadership
Support and collaborate with ASCC councils and committees to ensure technical programming aligns with member needs and industry standards
Serve as senior technical advisor to ASCC committees, including Technical, Finishing, Sustainability, Safety, Decorative Concrete Council (DCC), and Concrete Polishing Council (CPC)
Ensure committee outputs are technically accurate, consistent, and aligned with recognized standards
Guide committees in developing publishable, impactful technical deliverables
Oversee ASCC’s technical library, ensuring resources remain current, accurate, and relevant
Identify outdated or redundant materials and lead revision or retirement efforts
Monitor emerging materials, technologies, and construction practices impacting concrete contractors
Lead or support strategic research initiatives that advance industry knowledge and improve contractor outcomes
Promote ASCC membership through technical engagement, committee involvement, and industry outreach
Strengthen ASCC’s identity as the authoritative contractor voice in every external forum
Collaborate with ASCC leadership to align technical initiatives with organizational strategy and growth objectives
Qualification
Required
Extensive experience in concrete construction, engineering, materials science, or related technical disciplines
Demonstrated leadership and participation in ACI and/or other standards organizations
Strong understanding of contractor operations, constructability, and field execution
Proven ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to diverse audiences
Experience leading technical programs, committees, or industry initiatives
Preferred
Established industry credibility and professional network strongly preferred
