Responsibilities
Concept, design, test, document, and promote new software features and processes
Perform requirements analysis and decomposition
Evaluate new languages, development tools, or processes
Perform product maintenance
Manage the software lifecycle through version control and configuration management
Stay current with new technologies or develop new technologies
Communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers, and other units
Support and advise engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers, and suppliers
Qualification
Required
Mastery of HDL design and strong understanding of synthesis from specification through place-and-route
Proficiency in embedded software languages, development tools, and processes (requirements → specification → development → testing → delivery)
Extensive knowledge of embedded computer hardware
Solid programming experience in C or C++
Ability to read schematics and component data sheets
Troubleshooting skills and ability to implement system changes to resolve issues
Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills
5–7 years industry experience
Minimum BS in Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering / related field
Real-world FPGA experience (key requirement)
Real-world HDL and synthesis experience (must be demonstrated on resume)
Control software design patterns, ANSI C, version management tools, and Agile development processes
Embedded electronics controls, display, or telematics software design
FPGA HDL development and synthesis
Device drivers
SPI/I2C peripheral interfacing
Hardware diagnostics
Operating system configuration
Non-volatile memory interfacing
Board initialization
Chip-level interfacing
Reading schematics and component data sheets
Troubleshooting and implementing system changes
