Responsibilities

Perform complex testing, diagnosis, maintenance, alignment, calibration, and overhaul of electronic and electromechanical equipment
Observe and test systems to locate and correct malfunctions
Inspect equipment, recommend corrective actions, and investigate failures
Revise preventive maintenance procedures and operator checklists
Analyze equipment failures and operational reports to enhance performance
Assist in installation, removal, modification, assembly, and disassembly of systems
Participate in training programs and provide on-the-job training to lower-level maintenance staff
Provide technical support to other employees, including operational checks of completed work
Operate vehicles or other transportation as required
Follow safety practices and maintain maintenance directives library
Perform additional duties as assigned

Mechanical comprehension and knowledge of basic mechanical operations (gears, pulleys, cams, springs, fasteners)
Knowledge of electrical principles (Ohm's Law, AC/DC circuitry, relays, switches, circuit breakers)
Knowledge of electronics (logic gates, solid-state devices, digital circuits)
Familiarity with safety and security procedures in maintenance work
Competence with computers, software, and networking technology
Mathematical ability for problem-solving and calculations
Troubleshooting and analytical skills to determine root causes and solutions
Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
Clear communication, organizational skills, and teamwork
Ability to work independently and adapt to new conditions or technology
Physical ability to handle tools, lift equipment, and work at heights
Knowledge and ability to use hand/power tools, test equipment, and soldering techniques
Successful completion of Postal Service Test 955 (Electronics Technician job group)
Structured interview evaluation
Completion of prescribed training courses prior to assignment, reassignment, or promotion
Must operate powered industrial equipment
Positions requiring driving must have a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
A 10-year criminal background check is required for U.S. residents
Individuals who cannot complete a full background check due to residency outside the U.S. may be ineligible
Prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching
Handling heavy objects such as tools and equipment
