Structures Equipment Operator (SEIU) (Internal)
The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) is seeking highly skilled and safety-focused individuals to join their team as Structures Equipment Operators. This position supports critical maintenance, repair, and replacement activities for BART structures by operating heavy construction vehicles and various tools and equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the transit system.

Responsibilities
Operates various high-rail vehicles used to transport equipment, supplies and employees to various work sites
Operates heavy and light construction equipment including, but not limited to, trucks, cranes, bulldozers, excavators, and forklifts
Excavates trenches, installs shoring, makes slope cuts, and otherwise moves and grades earth
Operates cranes and rig loads in a safe manner
Cleans and clears debris including dead animals and other trash and obstructions from tunnels, aerials and at grade right-of-ways; cleans and rods drains; drains standing water or water seepage using hand or power pumps
Caulks or grouts cracks in walls, floors or other surfaces; repairs, removes, or replaces existing concrete, asphalt or other materials using hand or power equipment, including cutting of reinforcing steel by any means
Reads diagrams and specifications to determine appropriate measurements
Erects wooden forms and falsework or concrete work; cuts, bends, and installs reinforcing steel and miscellaneous inserts for concrete work; pours and finishes concrete for retaining walls, walkways, etc.; applies and finishes asphalt surfaces as required
Fabrics, repairs and maintains wood structures inside the right-of-way and shop yards; cleans up work site after completion of assigned work; maintains tools, vehicles and equipment in a clean and orderly condition; reports the need for additional maintenance or repair to the foreworker
Qualification
Required
Possession of a high school diploma, GED or recognized equivalent
The equivalent of four (4) years of full-time verifiable experience operating a variety of heavy construction equipment in a heavy construction or similar related setting
Must possess and maintain a valid California Class A driver's license with a tank vehicle endorsement and have a satisfactory driving record
Must obtain and maintain District certification to operate heavy equipment
Must have physical capability to walk, climb, stoop, bend, crawl, twist, work in confined spaces, work underground and to heights of 60 feet, and walk on uneven surfaces; to climb and work from a ladder; perform strenuous physical labor including sufficient strength to lift various shaped material and sacks of cement weighing up to 100 pounds and must work both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather; wear a respirator and work in a dusty work environment subject to various fumes and noise levels in the proximity of live voltage; and climb into vehicles with steps up to 25 inches from the ground in close clearances
Must be willing to work on-call, weekends and off-hours shifts
