Power Systems Operations Engineer III

Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) manages the electricity superhighway in the Central U.S. and is seeking a Power Systems Operations Engineer III to be part of their Real Time Operations group. Responsibilities

Be part of MISO’s Real Time Operations group and work collaboratively to make complex and quick decisions
Coordinate the use of the transmission system by ensuring flows stay within prescribed limits
Partner with transmission operators and neighboring reliability coordinators to maintain reliability
Train and hone skills until qualifying for a shift position
Maintain the accuracy and availability of one of the most important Energy Management Systems (EMS) in the Eastern Interconnection
Monitor inputs from ICCP, SCADA into the State Estimator
Obtain accurate contingency analysis study results
Provide study results that assist in making MISO the most reliable, value-creating RTO
Participate in projects that lead the way for the operations of the future

Required

At least a Bachelor's degree in any of the following: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
The ability and willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule
At least three years of related working experience

Preferred

Experience in Utility, transmission operations, real-time operations, or a related field
Previous Energy Management System (EMS) experience
Transient/Voltage stability experience
Programming Experience in C, C++, VBA, Perl, Python
