Responsibilities
Develop automotive components ensuring compatibility with original equipment and industry standard specifications
Reverse engineer or improve upon designs leveraging 3D scanning, CMM data, functional benchmarking, and material analysis
Determine project documentation and validation requirements throughout the product lifecycle
Utilize AIAG standards for production approval such as: PPAP, DFMEA, DRD, DVP, etc
Create, review, and revise engineering drawings, technician installation guides, and warehouse inspection instructions
Inspect first article samples and review supplier documentation to determine if design meets functional, reliability, and quality requirements
Communicate with global suppliers on design and manufacturing to maintain quality control throughout the production process
Collaborate with cross functional departments such as product, supply chain, and quality to ensure successful product launches
Qualification
Required
Reverse engineering or product development experience
Understanding of SolidWorks or other CAD software
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint
Understanding of manufacturing capabilities, i.e. machining, stamping, casting, injection molding and electronics assembly
Experience in cross-functional teams
Technical degree (BS) in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline with 3+ years of experience; or Associate degree with 5+ years of experience
Preferred
Knowledge of GD&T drafting techniques
Basic knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems
