The role involves providing preventive and corrective maintenance to all Family Dollar Transportation equipment, including performing repairs on commercial trailers and maintaining an organized work area.

Responsibilities
Performs all necessary repairs to all systems, sub-systems and components of company commercial trailers
Mounts and dismounts tires
Brands and places tires in inventory
Performs periodic FHWA inspections, inbound equipment inspections and PM follow up work
Assists in maintaining an accurate parts inventory system
Assists in performing other maintenance-related activities, as needed
Follows set safety procedures and guidelines
Maintains an organized work area and promotes a safe working environment. Follows all Company policies and procedures
All other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 1 year experience in heavy-duty commercial trailer maintenance
Must have a roll around type tool chest and all hand tools to perform assigned mechanic work
Able to perform essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation
Must possess a valid driver's license
Team Member will complete an annual violation and review record and provide authorization for an annual MVR
Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers and management team
Adapts readily to new situations and ways of working
Identifies problems and finds solutions to them
Is committed to achieving and maintaining high standards
Consistent and dependable
Does not put self or others at risk of injury
Applies relevant knowledge, skills and procedures to all technical aspects of the job
Preferred
Some formal equipment maintenance training from a Technical School
Basic computers
Current Brake Certification
Proper certification to perform FHWA inspections
