College Intern – AVFI Civil Engineering
The Port of Seattle is seeking a College Intern for their Civil Engineering department. In this role, you will assist the senior civil engineer with capital project design review and asset management tasks, participating in various phases of large capital projects and conducting assessments on infrastructure.

Responsibilities
Participate in large capital projects during planning, design and construction phases
Research record documents such as plans, specifications and technical reports to verify existing equipment and infrastructure locations and capacities
Update fixture counts pertaining to sewer and water laterals
Prepare and edit an Excel spreadsheet listing all the fixtures by number, type, and location
Perform stormwater detention condition assessment for the Department of Ecology’s Dam Safety program
Conduct condition assessments on stormwater drainage, water and/or structural systems. The assessment will lead to developing a project to address deficiencies
Assist with development and management of infrastructure small job projects
Roadway Asset verification, field verify roadway infrastructures such as illumination, roadway signage, stormwater collection, and safety systems
Assist in gathering and formatting as-built information to be used for the preparation of facility master record drawings
Compile Asset Management data and enter into the Excel spreadsheet
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled undergraduate or a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) in a degree program such as in Civil Engineering or related field
Knowledge on Microsoft Office products, with a strong emphasis in Excel
Experience with AutoCAD
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to read or quickly learn how to read drawings of building construction elements such as airfield markings, pavement, storm drain, water, and sanitary sewer systems
Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Valid Washington State Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one
Ability to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
Ability to pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check and a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
Establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment
