The University of Miami’s UMIT Department has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Systems Engineer 3 to work in a hybrid capacity. Responsibilities

Leads full lifecycle delivery of software development
Evaluates, designs, and tests clinical applications of information systems for implementations and upgrades
Works with managers, senior administrators, and other leaders to produce required data, identify project tasks, and appropriate time estimates
Develops, designs, evaluates, and monitors common data processing methods and procedures, and identifies opportunities for process improvements for existing and new interfaces
Builds and enforces simulation exercises, reviews design and code for quality control, and maintains procedures to ensure utmost performance
Serves as a technical expert in multiple highly specialized areas of applications systems analysis and programming
Designs and implements viable solutions to technical challenges and assists support staff in resolving issues
Leads problem-solving to troubleshoot and direct resolution of production issues
Ensures data integrity with each interface and establishes protocols to resolve data accuracy and transmission issues
Ensures that all interfaces are using appropriate standards and record transaction formats
Documents and implements integration environment modifications, in accordance with best practices in the industry
Serves as software technical expert and primary resource for clinical applications to support end-users, including vendors and clinicians
Advises and works with other IT personnel in maintaining efficiency of corporate applications and operating systems
Maintains proficiency and certification with the integration technologies required and the application systems assigned
Maintains reliable performance of the integration environment and overall integration engine(s)
Monitors the runtime cycle(s) of live interfaces and resolves downtime issues
Performs analysis to test, develop, modify, and adapt application systems, hardware configurations, and interface programs
Provides problem-solving expertise to troubleshoot and resolve production issues
Leads report generation for presentation to senior management
Provides advice and guidance to management and technical staff relating to Cloud Infrastructure products and solutions
Takes on a lead role for problem management analysis
Provide technical leadership when implementing and administering solutions supported by the team
Delegates technical tasks when appropriate and sets appropriate benchmarks to achieve timed-based goals
Deliver cloud services and/or infrastructure in alignment with target architecture (Amazon Web Services/Azure, and/or VMware)
Apply high skill with commands, utilities and understand advanced aspects in the engineering and administration of VMware and Citrix platforms
Subject matter expert (SME) with VDI technologies, Cloud (AWS and Azure) strategy, security, capable of visualizing what it means to go from legacy computing environments to utilizing the best, world-class secure Cloud computing offerings available for delivery at an enterprise scale
Responsible for evaluating and recommending best practice VDI architectures for the enterprise VDI service, to include providing expertise architecting, designing, engineering and migrating legacy infrastructure and applications to the Citrix Cloud, using industry best practice methodologies or strategies
Extensive technical expertise in Windows Server 2012/2016/2019
Performs research and analysis required for project proposals, system modifications, and new implementations
Manages relationships between Citrix technical and UMIT, working to manage or resolve issues, coordinating and facilitating communication, and acting as an intermediary, as needed
Coordinate efforts to quickly resolve outages
Making sure to keep management and customers informed, working with vendors, application development, and or database administrators to resolve problems along with performing root cause analysis
Provides support of the cloud infrastructure and coordination of vendor support to ensure 24/7 service availability
Conduct cross-training sessions for UMIT members and customers as required
Ensures that most appropriate solutions are designed/selected and implemented, and that hardware and software solutions are efficiently integrated and configured to meet or exceed project requirements
Monitor and maintain systems to ensure activities complete successfully, performs planned and unplanned changes in the development and production environments, and provide support for afterhours maintenance activities in the production environment
Exhibits subject matter expertise on designing, implementing, and maintaining Citrix infrastructure

Required

Bachelor's degree in relevant field
Minimum 6 years of relevant experience
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion
Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary
Commitment to the University's core values
Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment
