Responsibilities
Provide assistance with sampling, monitoring, surveys, and research for multiple commercial and recreational shellfish fisheries
Collecting, tabulating, and analyzing data on shellfish fisheries, shellfish resources, and estuary habitat
Collect and enter data from the commercial Dungeness crab fishery including from vessel offloads (dockside sampling), onboard fishing vessels (at-sea sampling), derelict gear recovery trips, logbooks, and research, management, and monitoring projects
Serve as an agency liaison to commercial fishers and the public
Qualification
Required
A Boater Education Certificate obtained through the Oregon State Marine Board within sixty days of appointment
Preferred
Field sampling experience
At-sea experience
Experience collecting and recording data from commercial or recreational fisheries
Data entry experience
Experience generating summaries, tables and charts for reports
Experience conducting outreach and communicating with public on natural resource topics
Anyone who has or is in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences
