College and Career Success, Program Manager (Years 3 & 4)

Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City is the nation's first and NYC's largest youth mentoring organization, dedicated to supporting youth through mentoring relationships. The College & Career Success Program Manager will provide guidance and resources to third and fourth-year college students and their mentors to ensure academic success and career readiness.

Responsibilities

Serve as direct support to our currently enrolled third and fourth-year college student program participants (scholars), and their mentors, to support scholars in graduating college within five years and accessing their chosen career fields
Development and implementation of new program models; build and optimize support structures for third and fourth-year scholars and their mentors
Provide both tailored, individualized coaching and guidance as well as delivering workshops and resources to the full group of scholars and their mentors
Maintain regular contact with matches to assess the strength of mentoring relationship; proactively address barriers and leverage both internal and external resources to support college success and career exploration
Support with recruitment, enrollment, and facilitation of the Career Pathways Program, a 10-week virtual career mentoring program open to upperclassmen in CCS
Create & facilitate one-off academic or career-based workshops as needed
Serve as lead in planning and implementing annual CCS graduation for graduating college scholars
Update records on a routine basis; assist with statistical reports, demographic, and outcome tracking. Input all survey data and case notes into the database. Create and maintain department forms and documents
Attend external meetings for professional associations and partnerships as needed
Contribute to the development of funding proposals and reports

Required

Passion for the mission and values of BBBS of NYC; alignment with the organization's values
5+ years' experience working with upperclassmen college students in a formal career success program or in a career advising setting
Demonstrated experience supporting students in navigating FAFSA, TAP, and other scholarships
Track record of successfully supporting upperclassmen college students in navigating job, internship, and/or graduate school applications
Experience engaging and managing adult volunteers; comfort building relationships with a variety of stakeholders
Skilled facilitator comfortable delivering programming and curriculum to a diverse set of stakeholders both in-person and virtually
Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion; understanding of the institutional and systemic barriers to college success faced by first-generation college students
Knowledge of CASEL SEL framework, positive youth development principles and commitment to asset-based, trauma-informed approach to working with young adults; understanding of adult learning frameworks
Experience working with newly launched programs; comfort with building systems and understanding of program evaluation
Creative problem-solver; comfort with innovation and establishing new processes
Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, & Outlook; Experience using Matchforce and/or other CRM or Innovative Mentoring systems, a plus
