Technologist II - Histocompatibility Laboratory (HLA)
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is dedicated to ending cancer for life and is seeking a Laboratory Technologist for their Histocompatibility Laboratory. The role involves performing technical work, maintaining competency in laboratory testing, and contributing to translational research projects related to hematopoietic stem cell and bone marrow transplantation.

Responsibilities
Perform and maintain competency in the technical and related work in the Histocompatibility Laboratory to support the hospital's Hematopoietic Stem Cell and Bone Marrow transplantation program. Testing includes DNA extraction, PCR, HLA typing by NGS, engraftment monitoring by NGS, KIR typing, and HLA antibody screening
Interpret molecular data for patient and donor testing
Have the opportunity to assist with the development and evaluation of new clinical assays for patient-donor pre-transplant evaluation and post-transplantation monitoring
Contribute to translational research projects
Assure the accuracy of all tests performed by adhering to the Laboratory's Standard Operating Procedures
Create and help maintain an environment that emphasizes safety following New York State DOH, ASHI, Joint Commission, OSHA and CLIA regulations
Perform routine and advanced equipment maintenance
Contribute to the upkeep and safety of the Laboratory and assures a clean, safe, adequately supplied work area
Participate in the laboratory inventory program that provides adequate inventories of reagents and supplies
Provide direction, training, and feedback on routine laboratory procedures, as assigned
Maintain complete, accurate, legible, neat, organized, up-to-date records/logs/files
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences
A NY State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License required or eligible to apply for NY license or Histocompatibility restricted license
2+ years of experience working in a clinical laboratory required
Excellent computer, verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
2+ years of experience working in a molecular laboratory strongly preferred
ASCP certification preferred
