Responsibilities
Partner with Business Stakeholders to develop a roadmap, provide leadership to leaders and/or experienced professionals, and collaborate with technology vendors such as Alation, Ataccama, Microsoft and Databricks to drive business outcome
Manage data engineering projects, including design, development, and execution
Ensure that data engineering efforts align with business goals and drive operational success
Manages multiple related units or teams, sets priorities, allocates resources and executes business plans
Collaborate with senior stakeholders to define data needs and drive complex data initiatives
Implement best practices for data engineering, data governance, and data quality assurance across the organization
Makes recommendations for solutions or improvements to business processes that can be accomplished through new technology or alternative uses of existing technology
Focus is on operational activities within a specified area with some contribution to short-term strategy
Apply in-depth understanding of the business dynamics of own division and integrate within the department
Adhere to data governance standards and best practices to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance
Lead cross-functional data projects and initiatives
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience
8-12 years of relevant experience
5-8 years of management experience; or equivalent experience as the subject matter lead or expert in area of expertise
Broad expertise or unique knowledge in the data engineering function
Deep understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Expert analytical and problem-solving skills
Expert communication and collaboration skills
Expert knowledge of project lifecycles and management methodologies
Requires a comprehensive understanding of internal and industry standards and principles
Ability to influence others internally and externally, including leaders, vendors and regulators
Experience with Agile practices including Scrum, Azure DevOps, Git and CI/CD
Experience in financial planning and analysis, encompassing comprehensive cost allocation, continuous budget oversight, and strategic scenario modeling
Proven expertise in managing vendor relationships for Statement of Work (SOW) execution, developing risk mitigation strategies, and maintaining effective communication channels to ensure successful project outcomes
