Senior Propulsion Component Engineer (Electromechanical)
Impulse Space is an in-space transportation company focused on opening access beyond Low Earth Orbit. The Senior Propulsion Component Engineer (Electromechanical) will be responsible for designing propulsion system components and working closely with an agile team to realize high-performance spacecraft.

Responsibilities
Design propulsion system electromechanical components including linear and rotary actuators and motors
Perform integrated system trades on power systems, actuation rates, and force margins to arrive at optimal solution for flight vehicle
Own all aspects of component design from initial concepts to product realization
Generate detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings
Perform fluid, thermal, and structural analysis as required
Establish assembly procedures and work hands-on with technicians to refine this process
Define and support rigorous component development and qualification testing
Resolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
5+ years of demonstrated experience in high power density motor and/or actuator design
A strong understanding of electromechanical component design including: force/torque margin determination, materials and motor selection, wear, electronics, motor control and software/firmware interfaces
Hands-on experience working with fluid, electrical and mechanical systems
Demonstrated proficiency in CAD software with ability to learn new tools
Demonstrated ability in requirements definition, conceptual design, procurement, fabrication, assembly and testing of hardware
Flexible schedule and willing to travel as needed
Preferred
Experience designing and operating high reliability, high performance hardware
Experience with high-power density and vacuum-rated components
Experience in a startup or agile development environment
Strong project management skills and effective communication of technical concepts across multi-disciplinary team
