Technical Product Engineer

The Technical Product Engineer position provides technical support to the Sales Department and customers for processing at subcontracted vendors, ensuring customer and specification requirements are met while providing metallurgical support to management personnel.

Responsibilities

Reviews and provides technical instructions to vendors performing post-ingot processing. This includes, but is not limited to, hot work operations (forging/rolling), NDE, surface conditioning, and cropping
Investigate defects for failures that occur at vendors and during sub-contracted operations
Perform failure investigations on customer returns/claims
Witness and oversee forging or other critical processes at vendors to help develop best practices and more complete technical instructions
Provide technical support for operations at EQS after sub-contracted operations, such as discard practices
Monitor sub-contracted vendor performance in terms of quality, yield, and delivery
Provide technical support for vendor audits and supplier corrective action requests
Assist with inspections on outgoing material, in any product form (ingot, remelt ingot, billet, etc.)
Must have ability and desire to work well with others
Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company
Meets attendance standards, including availability to work in excess of eight hours per day and weekends as necessary
Performs other duties as deemed necessary

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy or Material Science
Minimum of 2 years' experience with steel processes/products. Experience with hot working operations (forging, rolling) is a plus
Strong problem solving/analytical skills
Ability to work with personnel at all levels of the organization
Good verbal and written communication skills
Active and valid driver's license
Willingness and ability to travel, when necessary
Strong work ethic
Willingness to learn
