Safety Controls Engineer
SoloPoint Solutions is seeking a Machine Safety Controls Engineer for a 6-month contract role. The primary responsibilities include leading machinery risk assessments, ensuring the design of safety-related parts of control systems, and programming safety devices.

Responsibilities
Lead and document machinery risk assessments utilizing the TE Connectivity HRN scoring method, identifying hazards, estimating risk, and selecting risk-reduction measures per the hierarchy of controls. Translate risk results into Required Performance Level (PLr) for each safety function that protects personnel
Ensure the design (Category 2/3/4, MTTFd, DCavg and CCF) of machinery SRP/CS (safety-related parts of control systems) meets or exceeds the required PL. Produce PL calculations via SISTEMA or manual methods
Program and configure safety devices/PLCs/relays (e.g., Keyence GC series, Rockwell •GuardLogix•, Siemens •S7 Safety•, SICK Flexi Soft). Provide direction and guidance to electrical technicians/contractors to ensure correct installation of SRP/CS
Review or create and execute TE Connectivity Machinery Safety Lifecycle documentation. (Risk Assessment, Safety Requirements Specification, Verification, Validation.)
Qualification
Required
5+ years designing, programming, commissioning and/or sustaining SRP/CS for industrial machinery
Solid understanding of global machinery safety standards ISO12100 / ISO13849-1 and ANSI B11.0 / ANSI B11.19; demonstrated ability to adhere to and implement their methods and requirements
Hands-on experience integrating field devices (Safety Interlocks, Light Curtains, Area Scanners, E-stop devices) and troubleshooting electrical control systems
