Blade Technician Level III – Composite Repair Technician
FairWind is a global leader in wind turbine installation, maintenance, and repair with operations in over 40 countries. As a Level III Advanced Composite Repair Technician, you will tackle complex blade repair challenges and lead repair teams, ensuring safety and quality in all repairs.

Responsibilities
Perform and oversee advanced structural blade repairs, including:
Major leading edge and trailing edge section rebuilds
Extensive spar cap repairs and reinforcement
Full-length shear web re-bonding
Multi-shell section replacements and complete tip replacements
Carbon fiber root section repairs
Complex crack repairs using advanced techniques (e.g. large-area scarfing, core replacement, vacuum, post-cure finishing)
Lead the remediation of severe blade damage such as lightning strike impacts, and execute advanced root-end repairs to restore structural integrity
Employ specialized composite techniques (such as vacuum and high-strength bonding) for critical structural repairs
Diagnose complex blade damage on-site and determine appropriate repair plans in coordination with engineering or OEM guidelines
Validate that all completed repairs meet Critical To Quality (CTQ) metrics and adhere to engineering specifications, signing off on quality inspections
Serve as a technical mentor for Levels I and II technicians, providing training in advanced repair methods and guiding them on best practices and safety standards
Champion FairWind’s safety culture on every site, ensuring full compliance with all safety protocols (LOTO, fall protection/WAH, chemical safety, confined space, and platform operation procedures)
Lead daily toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and JSAs, and provide real-time safety coaching to the team to prevent incidents
Oversee final QA/QC processes for each repair project, conducting thorough inspections and giving structural sign-off upon successful completion of repairs
Act as the on-site technical lead for complex repair projects and OEM warranty campaigns, directing and coordinating the work of the blade repair crew
Collaborate in job planning and sequencing, rigging and lifting arrangements, and resource allocation to ensure repairs are completed efficiently
Interface professionally with Project Managers, site Supervisors, and OEM representatives, providing regular updates on progress and promptly addressing technical issues or questions
Qualification
Required
3+ years of extensive wind turbine blade repair experience, including significant advanced structural repair work
Expert knowledge of composite materials and repair techniques for major blade damage
Demonstrated leadership ability in a field environment, with experience leading or supervising repair teams
Willing and able to travel full-time (100% travel), throughout North America
Must pass a comprehensive blade repair skills evaluation prior to hire
Preferred
OEM-authorized advanced blade repair certifications (from manufacturers such as GE, Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, etc.)
IRATA or SPRAT advanced rope access certification
GWO (Global Wind Organization) training certifications
Previous experience as a lead technician or site supervisor in wind turbine blade repair
